Beaches

Greenwich has beautiful beaches on Long Island Sound. Tod's Point (in Old Greenwich) is open to the public for a daily guest fee. Please ask at the front desk for the particulars if you are interested.

Golf

There are numerous public and private golf courses within a short drive of the Inn.

Shopping

Greenwich’s historic downtown is a Mecca for shoppers. It has an impressive array of Women’s apparel shops:
Elsebe, Talbots, Saks Fifth Ave., to name a few.
Estate tag sales are a real treat in Greenwich.

Antiques

There are clusters of antique shops and commission marts at the very top and bottom of Greenwich Ave., also on Mason St. and E. Putnam Ave. (exit 5 off I95)

Historic sites

Bush Holly House in Cos Cob is the headquarters for the Greenwich Historic Society and open to the Public for tours most days but Monday.

Putnam Cottage is a short walk from the Inn. It was here that General Putnam was reportedly nearly captured by the British. He escaped by riding his horse down Put’s Hill to the east of the cottage.

A short drive away is the Lockwood/Matthew’s Mansion, in Norwalk. This is a must see for people who enjoy fine architecture and craftsmanship.

Theater

Stamford Town Center for the Performing Arts is rapidly becoming very popular. 307 Atlantic St., Stamford, 325-4466 for tickets.

Westport Playhouse is in the backyard of Paul Newman and other actors who reside in Westport. It is also a famous summer stock theater.

Movies

Greenwich has a 6 screen movie theater. There are also multi-plex theaters in nearby Stamford and Port Chester.

Museums

The Bruce Museum is located near the Inn. It has local artifacts and special exhibits. In May and October there are arts /crafts outdoor festivals. Select artists/craftsmen from all over the U.S. display their creations.

The Norwalk Maritime Museum is just 12 miles away. It is a fascinating marine oriented museum/showplace. Volunteers teach knot tying, there are theme exhibits and a tank of harbor seals.
